Nowadays,
the Port is connected to the Atlantic Motorway by means of a branch
from the national road 640 from Chapa to Carril of 7 km long, linking
this area with the most active areas in Galicia: Coruña, Santiago,
Pontevedra and Vigo. Through the Atlantic Motorway the Port is connected
to the rest of Spain and Portugal by very good roads.
The works for the new road that will connect the Port with the Atlantic
Motorway are planned to be started by the end of 2003.
Vilagarcía de Arousa is linked to the rest of Spain by a wide-gauge
railway, to the Zamora-A Coruña line through Santiago de Compostela
and to the Vigo-Madrid line through Pontevedra and Redondela.
