The project of this lighthouse was written in 1860 and sold at auction on April 12nd of the same year with a budget of contract of 98,168.12 "reales"(old spanish money). It consists in a small building of rectangular plant of 10.20 meters, the tower is a truncated-pyramide of hexagonal section and with a height of 5.30 meters, crowned by a balcony lightly flown on which rests the cylindrical turret that, at the same time, supports the polygonal lantern of 1.60 meters of diameter with glasses crystals and vertical stanchion. The works were concluded in 1861.
Its luminous apparatus, of the Sautter house, with optic of 375 miillimetres of diameter and a lamp of piston that utilized oil like fuel, subsequently it was substituted by a Maris of petroleum. The cost of the lantern and the apparatus ascended 6,197 pesetas . Its installation was carried out by D. Feliciano Mariño at the beginning of 1862.

LIGHTHOUSE "MONTE LOURO" . RIA DE MUROS It is located in "Punta del Quijal"of "Monte Louro",to 82º E from the peak of the same, in the narrow entrance of "Ria de Muros" . It has the following characteristics:
Apparatus catadióptrico of 5º order. Fixed white light. Range in ordinary state of the atmosphere 10 miles. Latitude 42º 44_10" N. Longitude 2º 51_45" W of San Fernando, elevation of the luminous focus over the level of the sea 27.5 meters, over the land 8 meters.
The tower is hexagonal, of clear color of granite which is build, and the white octogonal lantern; is united to the room of the lighthouse keepers, which is rectangular and painted in white with green windows.
LIGHTED ON JULY THE 15th OF 1862.
For application of the reformation of "Plan de 1902", it was carried out a project of reformation of apparatus, in 1919, coupling a game of turned screens worked by a machine of wachmaking,group that was acquired the company "Maquinista Valenciana". The resulting characteristic remained so in groups of 4 and 1 white concealments .
So it remained until on April the 18th of 1949 that the Maris lamp was substituted by a system of acetylene composed by a set of winking light AGA with solar valve and burner of 25 litres/ h. At time it was changed the characteristic to groups of 2+ 1 white flashes and 12 miles of range. This meant the suppresion of the personnel that attended to it, adding the service to the lighthouse " Rebordiño", where the residence of the technician would be located.
Nowadays it is met electrified with utilization of energy fotovolt given by six modules of 75 W/ p. This reformation was carried out at the beginning of the year 1993.
